After i exposed stunning revelations by hawala operator Chetan Gupta.
Gupta admitted on camera that he'd facilitated the transfer of black money belonging to former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, his son Raninder Singh and other family members.
Gupta said he routed Amarinder Singh's `black' money to a London based businessman's account through an agent.
He also said that there were two hawala transactions to Swiss Bank accounts on July 25 and October 31, 2003. On his part,
Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN, Amarinder Singh has denied any involvement in the Ludhiana city centre scam.
Reacting to the allegations, Amarinder Singh said that Gupta was forced into making these confessions.
Amarinder Singh has however claimed that he has been framed by the Akali Dal.
“Who is Chetan Gupta? What’s he got to do with the Ludhiana scam? We have known his family for 7-8 generations. You know what they have done to that boy? They kept him in police remand for 7-9 days, thrashed him black and blue, they have been using chemicals on him, injections and electric shocks, “Amarinder Singh said.
“They have done that to my media advisor, to one of my MLAs Mr Dimpa in Amritsar. It's a full fledged vendetta campaign launched by the Akali Dal against the congress party and those associated with me,” he added.
Reacting to hawala expose, the BJP has accused the Congress of not taking action against the corrupt in its ranks.
"Natwar has worked against the Congress but no action has been taken against him. Corruption cases have been filed aginst Singh but he's still their leader. Congress and corruption seem to go hand in hand," said BJP leader V K Malhotra.
After i exposed the story, sources in the Vigilance Bureau have told the channel that they will submit the data found on in Chetan Gupta's pen drive in court.
Under the Information and Technology (IT) Act of 2000, any computer-generated data, including that on pen drives, is admissible as evidence because any entry made will have a date of creation and be verified easily.
